Health Certificate
Yep, Pistol got his health certificate today. And guess what? He's fat. :( The vet said its not super bad, but he could tell he'd been eating grass all summer. Especially around his butt! I was like "oops..." I didn't think he was that bad. It shouldnt be a big deal though, he's not hideously overweight, just a little chubby, according to the vet. Plus we are going to the ISC, so he will be on a hay diet, no rich grass! But at least my horse is an easy keeper! Plus he did a fabulous job for the vet again. He stood still for all the stethoscope stuff, and even was good about the thermometer. He has a clean bill of health, and will be leaving the state Friday! But he's listed as Sparty on his coggins, so his health certificate had to say Sparty too. :(

Maybe that's why he coughed that day. Tug was fat too around his butt and hips. :P But his ribs were showing so I don't know.
ReplyDeleteSparty!? Wow, I wonder how that happened. At least you can change it on his next coggins. :)
How exciting, it's getting closer! How did you lesson with Meggie go?

Brooke: That might be. I feel bad, but most of it he came with. The stuff on his hips and base of his tail, that is from his previous owners. The stuff on his ribs is probably from me. I'm thinking its because he's been on pasture all summer with no herd, so he's been as greedy as he wants. And he seems to be an easy keeper as well. Yes, Sparty. That was his old name, and the coggins was bought right before I bought him, so it was stuck as Sparty. I hate that name, he is NOT a Sparty. Pistol suits him MUCH better. :D Petra: I'm very excited! I don't know how I will sleep! :D I did not have a lesson with Meggie after all, too many scheduling conflicts to be able to find a time that worked for both of us. :( But I have a transporter coming that is really good, she told me she doesn't want me to force Pistol, and I can take all the time I need for him and she won't charge me. Whew. :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Pistol fits him perfectly! :P
ReplyDeleteTug was called Jack. :( I gave it two weeks, and it just had to change. He's much more of a Tugboat. :) Red was called Romeo! I was not yelling that down the pasture! But I soon found out he really was a romeo.
